Best Redondo Beach Restaurants

Redondo Beach is one of three beach cities in Los Angeles County, California, located in the Greater Los Angeles area’s South Bay region. The population was 66,748 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 63,261 at the time of the 2000 census.

Baleen Kitchen at Portofino

260 Portofino Way
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: New American

This is a lovely spot to dine overlooking King Harbor. Weekends feature live music in the chic lounge and during the warmer months, music and BBQ on the lower level outdoor lounge. The menu offers a curated selection of appetizers, soup, salad, entrees and hand-crafted cocktails and I’ve eaten just about every item on the menu. I’m a regular for brunch on the patio and can’t get past the Pain Perdu – it’s the best I’ve ever had!

Bettolino Kitchen

211 Palos Verdes Boulevard
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Modern Italian

Bettolino Kitchen is owned by the next generation of the Giuliano family, Vince Giuliano and Andreanna Giuliano Liguore, and features Chef Fabio Ugoletti in the kitchen. The pasta is handmade, and while many of the dishes seem influenced by the healthy Cali culture, there are also plenty of satisfying, comfort foods, and they are equally delicious. The warm space features re-purposed wood and a couple of community tables. The daily lunch special, the Betto Box, is a fixed price, four item combo lunch. It’s a great spot for lunch or dinner but I also recommend stopping in some afternoon for Crostini Hour!

Buca di Beppo

1670 Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach,CA 90277
Cuisine: Italian

If you’re in the mood for a casual Italian meal complete with red checkered tableclothes, Jerry Vale music and straw covered chianti bottles, this is the place. It’s a very popular spot for large parties and the volume in the dining rooms can be loud so I suggest eating at one of the booths in the bar. Meals are served family style.

Bull Pen

314 Avenue I
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Steak house

Old school chop house, old school vibe. During the week, this neighborhood spot serves lunch and dinner to a loyal customer base. Weekends feature live music and a tightly packed dance floor. Friday and Saturday nights are a fun crush.

Charlie’s Italian

601 North Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Italian/American

Charlie’s truly is “A New York Italian Joint”. The food is as good as you’ll find in any restaurant in New York’s Little Italy. It’s the classic, southern Italian food I grew up with and it tastes just like mom used to make! It’s also a popular sports bar with a dozen big screen TVs but if you prefer to dine without the cheering fans, there’s a separate dining room. The prices are very reasonable and it’s a favorite spot for families with young children.

Cheesecake Factory

605 North Harbor Drive
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(310) 376-0466
Cuisine: American

You’d be hard pressed not to find what you’re looking for on the huge menu – appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, fish, burgers, pizza, traditional entrees and the list goes on and on. The location overlooks King Harbor and as popular as it is, there’s rarely a wait for a table. Portions are huge so plan on sharing or taking home leftovers.

Coyote Cantina

531 North Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA
Cuisine: Southwestern

Consistently delicious food with great service, sane prices and a friendly, neighborhood ambiance….oh, yeah, and a ridiculous selection of tequila!

Crème de la Crepe Café

1708 1/2 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, Ca 90277
Cuisine: French

There’s a reason this eatery is popping up all over the South Bay – it’s very good. It’s my ‘go-to’ spot when I need to get away from my desk in the late afternoon for a snack.

Dominique’s Kitchen

522 South Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: French

Imagine being treated to a delicious, satisfying meal in an incredibly comfortable home surrounded by great friends. That’s exactly what it feels like when you sit down to eat at Dominique’s. The staff is welcoming and friendly, the dining room and patio are cozy and well-appointed and the menu reads like a wish list of favorite meals. The portions are generous enough to assume there will be left-overs but the food is so light and delectable, you’ll clean each plate. The prices are remarkable for such a high quality dining experience.

Flyin Fin Sushi & Seafood

1727 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(424) 282-8958
Cuisine: Japanese

It’s great to have a sweet, sushi spot in the Riv again! (Who remembers the mom and pop Kikusui?) Flyin Fin offers all the sushi and sashimi options you’d expect, plus seafood specialties, entrees, lunch combos, special rolls, happy hour and more. It’s a small, convivial space and the staff is friendly and outgoing. It’s quickly become a local’s favorite, so there might be a wait to be seated, but don’t let that put you off!

Good Stuff

1617 South Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: A little bit of everything

A South Bay institution….the name says it all. They also have locations in El Segundo, Hermosa Beach and Palos Verdes

HT Grill

1701 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Eclectic Modern

Wonderful things have been happening in the kitchen since Executive Chef Nael Taki has taken over this Riviera Village mainstay. The menu has been completely revamped with a selection of appetizers, salads, hand-held items and a well-rounded offering of entrees. The Prosciutto & Burrata Board is a fantastic starter and big enough for a party of four to share. There are several delicious gluten free items on the menu including the phenomenal Espresso Short Rib and Beet the Burrata salad. Be sure to make a reservation on the patio – it’s the place to see and been seen in the Village!

Hudson House

514 North Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: New American Gastropub

This space has a great vibe – it’s a cross between a speakeasy (dark and intimate) and Irish Pub (comfortable and friendly). The eclectic menu changes regularly and has a little something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable and they have a nice selections of wine, beer and cocktails. They now offer a Jazz Brunch every Sunday!

500 Fisherman’s Wharf
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: American Chop House

A classic steak, seafood, chop house that knows how to mix it up…..deliciously! Fabulous location on the Redondo Pier and one of my favorite places to relax and watch an afternoon game.

Ortega 120

1814 South Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Modern Mexican

A classic cantina with a comfortable outdoor patio. Huge tequila selection and the place to go for margaritas! Not the same old Mexican dishes – don’t get me wrong, I love traditional Mexican food but they put an appetizing twist on just about everything and it works!

Pedone’s Pizza

1819 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Pizza, pasta, salads,sandwiches

My favorite New York-style pizza joint!

R10 Social House

179 North Harbor Drive
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: New American

I adore the vintage industrial décor and harbor view but this place is all about the food. They use local, seasonal ingredients in unique and unexpected ways and modern kitchen techniques. The menu offers a well-rounded variety of incredibly tasty dishes and it’s a fabulous spot to get together with friends, relax with a hand-crafted cocktail and share a snack or meal. The upstairs Chesterfield Lounge showcases a vintage bar and features live music. The name R10 refers to a local deep sea buoy that serves as a marker for seafarers.

Ragin Cajun Cafe & Moonshine Bar

525 South Pacific Coast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(310) 540-7403
Cuisine: Cajun

When you’re in the mood for some down-home, low country, Cajun cooking, look no further. Ragin Cajun offers all the classic dishes including entouffee, gumbo, jambalaya, po’ boys, crawfish and catfish, in addition to several hard-to-find-anyplace-else items like alligator, frogs legs, fried pickles and boudin. The recipes are authentic, straight from Lafayette, Louisiana. The drinks menu is extensive and offers specialty cocktails, moonshine, beer, wine, whiskey and the famous Original Hurricane. Be sure to order a Blue Voodoo – it’s served in a skull glass! This place is pure fun for the whole family, so as they say, ‘laissez les bon temps rouler’ – let the good times roll!

Rebel Republic Social House

1710 South Catalina Ave
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(424) 352-2600
Cuisine: Modern American Gastropub

Rebel Republic was a hit before it even opened. The prime location in Riviera Village is only part of the equation though. The large interior is bright and airy and the bar is huge. It’s got the whole indoor/outdoor thing going on, and with ample seating on the patio, it’s a see-and-be-seen scene. Specialty cocktails, whiskey and craft beer take center stage and are impressive. Then there’s the food – it manages to be ‘modern’ and ‘comfort’ at the same time. The reasonably priced menu features a nice selection of convivial bites but only a few entrees. Every dish I’ve had was very tasty but it’s the deceivingly simple burger that stands out. I can’t remember the last time I had American cheese on anything, but when combined with two patties, sweet onions and Rebel’s special sauce, it’s drop dead delicious. Seriously, you will develop a craving for it.

Riviera Mexican Grill

1615 South Pacific COast Highway
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Mexican

Classic Mexican food and then some….can you say potato taco? A popular spot with excellent service. Try the fish tacos and margaritas.

Sacks on the Beach

1611 S Catalina Ave
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(310) 540-3770
Cuisine: Salads & sandwiches

A casual café a block from the beach offering a nice selection of salads and sandwiches with several vegetarian options. A breakfast sandwich on the patio is an extremely pleasant way to start the day

Sea Level

655 North Harbor Drive
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(310) 921-8940
Cuisine: California Coastal

Sea Level is located in Shade Hotel overlooking the Redondo Marina and is one of my favorite places for coastal dining. The space is infused with ocean inspired hues and decor, with seating available both indoors and on the patio. If you’re in the mood for casual bites and sips, the heated outdoor patio also offers lounge seating and fire pits. The full service menu offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch and happy hour options, with a nice selection of starters, salads, pizza, entrees and raw bar. Sea Level successfully fuses casual, beach-chic style and LA glamour. When you want to impress – be it a date or important business meeting – make your reservation at Sea Level!

Swell Deli

1702 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(310) 373-2927
Cuisine: Sandwiches and Salads

FINALLY! A New York style sandwich shop in the South Bay…. and they have NY style BREAD (get the sesame seed)!!! They offer 14 different types of heroes, subs, whatever you want to call them, but you also have the option to build your own, and they’re all the same price. They also offer half a dozen different salads as a meal or a side, and a nice selections of chips and beverages. You can call in an order for pick up or walk in and wait a few minutes for your order. This place has become my go-to for lunch, picnics, boat rides or a last minute, don’t-have-time-to-cook dinner.

Table Manners

1611 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Modern American Comfort Food

Table Manners has a prime location at the corner of Avenue I and Catalina Avenue in Riviera Village offering diners indoor seating or outdoor on the expansive patio. The menu offers classic plates with unique and tasty twists. By all means start with a couple of the shared plates – Grilled Cauliflower Hummus, Gin Shrimp with Fruit Butter, and Cheesy Tots….they’re not just for kids anymore! There’s also a nice selection of burgers and sandwiches. The doubled brined Crispy Chicken Sandwich with pimento cheese is transcendent and may single-handedly launch the long awaited comeback of pimento cheese. It’s served with the best fries I’ve ever tasted – perfectly crisped on the outside, light and airy on the inside. Entree options include steaks, chicken, fish and vegetarian. Several dishes offer something unexpected, yet perfectly suited – ash butter, ranch aioli, red onion jam, or black garlic honey habanero sauce. Each dish is a fresh and thoughtful take on American comfort food. They also have self-ordering technology. Pull up the menu on your smart phone using the QR code and order away – no waiting for a server! I find this extremely convenient for ordering a second beverage. You can even pay the check online. You can go through an entire meal without ever having to interact with the wait staff unless you want to. Table Manners is a terrific addition to the Riviera Village dining scene!

The Green Temple

1700 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Vegetarian

My vegan friends swear by this place.

The Hook & Plow

729 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: Farm to Table, Ocean to Plate

Hook & Plow recently opened their second location in Riviera Village and it has the same kick-back, beach casual vibe as the Hermosa location. The menu features a terrific and unique selection of apps, salads, sandwiches, entrees and brunch items made with local, organic ingredients. I find their salads particularly refreshing and the sides are to die for. The interior is light and airy – beachy, beachy – and the outdoor patio and fire pit is the place to see and be seen. It’s a great addition to the Riviera dining scene!

The Rockefeller

1707 South Catalina Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
(424) 350-7862
Cuisine: Gastropub Fusion

The Rockefeller originally opened in Hermosa Beach and quickly thereafter established locations in Manhattan and Redondo. All three have become local’s favorites for a number of reasons – the laid back vibe, friendly service, casual-yet-stylish decor and fantastic food. The menu reflects the various influences on California cuisine with several Asian and Mexican dishes, in addition to the famous burgers and health conscience salads…. and yet, it all manages to feel like comfort food. If you don’t have time to sit and savor your morning coffee, they also offer grab-and-go menu items for breakfast that are very, very good. Of course, we would be remiss is we didn’t mention the aforementioned famous .99 cent Tuesday burger special!

The Slip Bar & Eatery

120 North International Boardwalk
Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Cuisine: American Casual

The International Boardwalk has changed dramatically in the last few months – in the best possible way! – and The Slip is a very welcome addition. The location is right on the water with open windows giving diners a close-up view of all the marina activity. The very reasonably priced menu offers a well-rounded selection of small tasty bites; fresh, delicious salads; hearty sandwiches; pizzas; full bar; hand selected wines and an impressive beer menu. Guests can watch televised sports and enjoy live music on the weekends. The Slip is owned by five, hands-on partners who, in addition to catering to area visitors, have successfully made The Slip a comfortable local’s hangout.

1735 South Catalina Avenue

The best hummus ever. The lamb melts in your mouth. Excellent service.

Yellow Vase Cafe

1805 South Catalina Avenue

This charming establishment now has four locations in the South Bay. Delicious panini, omelettes, soups, salads and crepes. A South Bay favorite for specialty cakes and desserts.
