How did Clairemont and Clairemont real estate property get its start? The first thing you need to know is where Clairemont is located.  Clairemont is a suburb of San Diego, on the mesa across from Pacific Beach and La Jolla, in a desirable and centrally located community. 

Just for fun, we thought we'd provide a few quotes from  a San Diego Magazine article titled Clairemont: how to live, published July 1957, on how Clairemont got it's start.

  "Today's garantuan Clairemont section of San Diego began as a 'calculated risk.' Because there wasn't much of anything in 1950 on top of scrubby Morena Mesa, Louis Burgener and Carlos Tavares--the men who planned to build big there--put out a total of $125,000 just to construct such basic improvements as sewers, roads and water mains beefore a single house was actually erected on the bare tableland.

  Needless to say, the gamble has paid off handsomely. When it was announced this year that development costs of from 50 to 60 million dollars will be involved in construction of a second Clairemont, adjacent to the first, nobody batted an eyelash; for the likelihood that the visionary partners in this mammoth enterprise would lose their shorts was universally looked upon as extremely slim.

  ... The old and new Clairemonts together, tied into a sprawling but neat package by a system of arterial roads and a common inheritance, will then be counted the second largest planned community in the United States (Levittown, in Long Island, New York, is number one by not nearly as well planned as Clairemont). "
