Lemon Grove, CA Homes
The lovely town of Lemon Grove acquired its name during the early 1900s when citrus groves were the region’s main industry. However, by World War II many of the fruit groves disappeared to make way for suburbanization. Residents are proud of the ten-foot-wide statue of a lemon. It is located near a small lemon grove beside the Orange Line Trolley at 3361 Main Street. “Best Climate on Earth” is inscribed across the monument’s base.
Located just 15 minutes from downtown San Diego, the affordable living in Lemon Grove attracts residents of all ages. The library and retail shopping district is convenient; residents can shop close to home. An adult softball and volleyball organization offers locals friendly competition and exercise. Activities for children include summer day camp, after school and sports programs. The Downtown Village Specific Plan implemented the endeavor of creating a mix of retail, offices and condominiums in order to strengthen the local economy.
